Second International Forum of the INRE on Teaching and Learning Mathematics (FIINREEAM'2023)

Aims and scope

      Mathematics is one of the most fundamental subjects, and its teaching is concerned with all horizons. Indeed, learning mathematics is not only an approach to a field of knowledge and learning, but it is above all a resource or a means of training in logical and systematic thinking, which allows providing a new approach to the explanation and investigation of the phenomena of the universe. Mathematics allows learners to enter the field of research, supporting their learning through problem-solving in the daily exercise of their profession, thus providing a more effective and committed service to the society of which they are part.
      To this end, and with the aim of proposing strategies to improve the teaching of mathematics in Algeria, the National Institute for Research in Education (INRE) is always active on issues related to the teaching and learning of mathematics at all levels (preschool, primary, middle and secondary). This confirms the interest of the INRE in this theme by organizing a round table that coincided with World Mathematics Day on March 14, 2022, and the first international forum on the teaching and culture of mathematics: Popularization, History, and Didactics of Mathematics on June 25 and 26, 2022 within the institute.
      The second International Forum of the INRE on Teaching and Learning Mathematics is a hybrid (online and on-site) event that will be held on June 25-26, 2023 at the INRE Algiers. It is organized by the research team of the institute under the theme "Teaching and Learning of Mathematics".

This forum aims to :

  • Create a place for discussion and meetings where specialists can give talks on the theme;
  • To enable researchers in the field to communicate their current work;
  • To sensitize the decision makers and the actors of the education sector to the importance of improving the teaching of mathematics in our country;
  • To valorize research in mathematics didactics and pedagogy;
  • Share the experiences of innovative teachers in mathematics education.

This event will focus on:

  1. History and mathematics education;
  2. Mathematics Education and Learner Performance;
  3. Mathematics research and learning for the age of technological revolution.
  4. Experiences in effective mathematics teaching.

      We hope that this Forum will generate innovative ideas and foster the creation of research relationships and partnerships between the different institutions involved in Mathematics.
